THERMAL TRANSFER SHEET AND THERMAL TRANSFER METHOD

PURPOSE:To enable the application of printing to plain paper and enable sharp varicolored multicolor printing by forming a thermal transfer concealing layer concealing the developed color of a hot-melt ink layer and thermal color forming paper on one surface of a base material film. CONSTITUTION:A hot-melt ink layer 2 and a concealing layer 3 are successively formed on a base material 1 and, if necessary, a release layer 4 is provided between the base material film 1 and the ink layer 2 and a slip layer 5 is provided to the rear surface of the base material film 1 to constitute a thermal transfer sheet A. The hot-melt ink layer 2 consists of a coloring agent being org. or inorg. pigment or dye and vehicle and contains various additives if necessary. The concealing layer 3 is formed by kneading titanium oxide or silica having high concealability generally with vehicle such as wax in a molten state to prepare ink and applying this ink to the ink layer 2. Thermal transfer is performed by superposing the thermal transfer sheet A on a thermal transfer receiving material to heat the same from the rear surface thereof by a thermal head.
