<p>PURPOSE: To separate a certain gas selectively from a contaminated gas by contacting the contaminated gas with a certain aminofunctional silicon compound at a sufficient temperature for a sufficient time. CONSTITUTION: A contaminated gas is contacted with an aminofunctional silicon compound selected from silanes of RaSiR'3-a (where R' is an alkyl base, phenyl base, or the like, having 1-6 carbon atoms, (a) is at least 1), siloxanes of (CH3 )3 SiO (CH3 )2 SiO}x (CH3 )RSiO}Si(CH3 )3 (where (x) is 1-500, (y) is 1-20), or the like, or mixtures or the like of the both. Then the aminofunctional silicon compound has a viscosity of 30,000 centistokes (mm<2> /s) at 25 deg.C before the contact with the contaminated gas. The contact is kept for a time sufficient to and at a temperature sufficient to reduce the contaminations in the contaminated gas. Then gases such as carbon dioxide, sulfur oxide, nitrogen oxide, and the like, are removed from the gas stream.</p> |
