Testing porous tubes or similar for leaks

A pressure test arrangement has a pressure generator used to set up a pressure within the test pipe (1) different from atmospheric pressure with the test pipe sealed at both ends with sealing plates (2,3), to one of which the pressure generator (8) is connected. The change of pressure is recorded over the test period. A pressure corresp. to the test pressure is set up in a compensation vol. (6;12) connected before the test object. The reference vol. is isolated (7) from the pressure generator after the test pressure is reached. After the reference vol. and test object have achieved pressure equilibrium, they are isolated from each other by a valve (5) and the pressure variations in the test object recorded in the conventional manner.
