PURPOSE:To provide an alkaline storage battery having a high positive electrode utilization factor by using nickel hydroxide powder where a covering layer of CO(OH)2, is formed on a surface and a nickel pole to which at least one or more kinds of Co or a Co compound are added. CONSTITUTION:Nickel hydroxide powder is dispersed in water, and alkali is added so as to keep constant pH with Co salt, and a covering layer of Co(OH)2 is formed on a surface of the nickel hydroxide powder. The covering layer is adjusted by an adding quantity of Co salt, and is set in 3wt.% to the nickel hydroxide powder. Water is added to a material by adding CoO by 3wt.% to the nickel hydroxide powder where a covering layer of Co(OH)2 is formed by 3wt.% on a surface, and is dispersed and kneaded, and paste is obtained. This paste is filled in, applied to and dried on a nickel board, and an electrode is obtained. |
