The method involves creating a EM field, e.g annular beam, which defines a central null in the field. The beam is controlled that the null is directed towards a destination or target. This involves positioning the object in or at a defined position w.r.t the null. The object includes an antenna and a receiver responsive to the signal strength difference between the annular region of the information field and the null in order to guide te object to the destination or target. The annular region is defined by a number of lobes closely positioned about the central null.
