<p>PURPOSE: To simplify structure and to improve reliability while preventing the damage of handled documents by disposing an energy accumulating means at a rotating shaft coupled to rollers forming a nip, and disposing a clutch for connecting and disconnecting an external driving means to and from the rotating shaft. CONSTITUTION: When a sheet is led into a reversing station 60 comprising a pair of guide plates 62, 64, a main control device 82 controls a clutch 84 on the basis of a detection signal of a sheet sensor 80, and the clutch selectively couples a shaft 100 to a driving gear 110. When the clutch 84 is engaged, the driving gear 110 is rotated normally (D), and a clutch driven reversing nip 70 comprising the shaft 100 and a plurality of rollers 90, 92 mounted thereto is rotated normally (E). At this time, the nip 70 acts against the energizing force of a coil spring 112 to accumulate mechanical energy in the coil spring. When the clutch 84 is detached, the shaft 110 is rotated inversely (F) by the mechanical energy accumulated in the coil spring 112, to discharge the sheet.</p> |
