<p>PURPOSE:To provide an alarm device for the approach to a vehicle ahead, which can issue the proper alarm in a region adapted to the individuality of each driver. CONSTITUTION:The alarm device for the approach to a vehicle ahead includes a deceleration-starting allowed time calculation means 13 for calculating the time allowed at the start of deceleration by dividing a detected value of intervehicular distance at the start of deceleration by relative speeds, an expected-time estimation means 19 by which the time expected by the driver is estimated from the time allowed at every deceleration, an intervehicular- distance expected-value calculation means 7 for calculating an expected value of intervehicular distance by adding detected values of relative speeds multiplied by an estimate of the expected time to a detected value of intervehicular distance, and an alarm judging means 9 for judging that an alarm should be issued when the expected value of intervehicular distance is smaller than an alarming distance. The minimum value of the time allowed for each driver when approaching to the vehicle ahead is learned, and that learned value is estimated as being the time expected by the driver, and an alarm is issued accordingly.</p> |
