The invention relates to an electronic and sonic apparatus making it possible to check banknotes, rapidly detecting forged notes. This detection is carried out by looking through the said note, the apparatus immediately recognising the composition of the paper used and automatically signalling the presence of a paper composition not complying with the manufacture of authentic currency paper. (Figure No. 1 appended) It consists of a box having an opening into which the banknote (10) is introduced. Under the lower part of the box there is a source of invisible light (9) and its printed circuit (8). On the upper part of the box is the UV sensor electronic cell (11) and the components (2) of the circuit of the printed board (3) on which the audible signal (electronic buzzer) (1) is located. At the back of the box is the starter of the WOOD tube (4) and the power supply transformer (6) and on/off switch (5) and a power supply inlet cable (7). <IMAGE>
