PURPOSE:To provide the optical recording medium which is low in noise and high in reliability. CONSTITUTION:This optical recording medium 10 consists of an enhancement layer 14, guide layer 15, interference layer 16, recording layer 17, protective layer 18 and reflection layer 19 laminated on a transparent substrate 12. Recording regions 20 etched at a prescribed width are spirally or concentrically formed on the guide layer 15. Since an aluminum (Al) compd., such as Al2O3, is used for the enhancement layer, the layer is not etched by plasma etching using a gaseous mixture composed of CF4. and O2. Then, the respective boundaries of the recording regions 20 are held smooth and the generation of noise by the roughening of the boundaries is suppressed. |
