1,261,510. Cleaning tanks. VALSPAR CORP. Oct.20, 1970 [Dec.29, 1969], No.49819/70. Heading A4F. A method of maintaining the interior surface of the side wall of an enclosed paint tank substantially free of paint residue above the paint level comprises vaporizing a liquid thinner for the paint and conducting it into the head space of the tank, and maintaining the side wall surrounding the head space of the tank at a temperature such that the thinner will condense on the inner surface of the side wall and rinse it. If the tank contains latex paint the thinner may be water. If the thinner is inflammable there is also fed into the head space of the paint tank a gas which does not support combustion, e. g. carbon dioxide. Apparatus is described and illustrated comprising two paint tanks connected to an electrically heated vaporizer for the paint thinner.
|
