The rail consists of tubular posts (1) with anchoring elements to fix them vertically to an infrastructure (5), each equipped with a number of supports (6,7,7') for holding and fixing round (14) or flat (15,16) rails. Each support is in the form of an L-shaped element with a horizontal member (12) fixed to the post and a vertical one (17,17') extending upwards to form a space (E) for the rails. Each post also has locking plates (18) with holes to go over the posts and ends which engage with the rails. Each of the supports is able to accommodate two flat rails (15,16) side by side, or a number of round rails (14), which can be of different diameters, and each of the locking plates has a projection (21) on the underside to engage with the rails. The locking plate holes can be polygonal, square or oval in section.
