Fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines with a pump piston which is driven to rotate and at the same time to reciprocate axially by a cam drive and which with its one end face defines a pump working chamber, which can be connected to the respective injection points. The cam drive is formed from a roller ring (5) and a lifting cam disc, running thereon and connected to the pump piston, the roller ring (5) being twistable for adjustment of the start of injection by an injection timing device (11). In order to be able to advance the start of injection automatically and independently of the injection timing device (11) for starting of the cold internal combustion engine, the internal combustion engine has a further adjusting device (15) with an adjusting piston (19) which by way of a pin (37) interacts with the roller ring (5), brings this into an injection advance position by means of a return spring (27) after the switching off of the internal combustion engine and, once a certain pump internal pressure has built up, releases the rotary motion of the roller ring (5) again. <IMAGE>
