A torsional vibration damper or torsionally elastic coupling (1) comprises an outer part (2) and an inner part (3) and radial spring elements (4) which are distributed uniformly around the circumference and, at their outer ends (4a) are clamped in the outer part (2) and, with their inner ends (4b) engage in slots (7) in the inner part (3), said slots forming convexly curved flanks (8). To reduce the risk of wear, the slot flanks (8) have a nonuniform curvature which has radii of curvature (R1, R2, R3) which increase outwards from the slot base (9). <IMAGE>
