PURPOSE:To produce high output second harmonic light having a single spectrum stably by specifying the direction of abnormal light for an anisotropic solid state laser medium and incorporating are element for selecting the direction of polarization of basic laser light in a resonator. CONSTITUTION:Pumping light emitted from a semiconductor laser 1 is condensed through a condenser lens 2 and then impinges on a solid state laser medium 5 thus pumping the solid state laser medium 5. Spontaneous light emitted from the medium 5 passes through a KTP crystal 6 and a polarization selecting element 8 and then it is reflected on a resonator mirror 4 back to the solid state laser medium 5 where the light is reflected on a resonator mirror 3 while being amplified and circulates within the resonator. In other words, laser oscillation takes place when the resonator mirrors 3, 4 satisfy the conditions of laser oscillation. The basic wave laser light thus oscillated is then subjected to wavelength conversion within the KTP crystal 6 to produce a second harmonic light which is outputted through an output mirror, i.e., the resonator mirror 4. |
