The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for the finish-machining of touched-up tools, there being provided adjacent to a touching-up or testing press machining stations, in which the remachining or final machining of the tools takes place. The tools are each received in an associated fixture which, if appropriate, also has its own drive. From each machining station, a direct transport of the fixture together with the tool into the touching-up or testing press or from this to the machining station is possible.
