PURPOSE:To provide a liquid crystal panel which realizes bright images having good quality and sufficiently high reliability by forming a light shielding film of a metallic film and a thin film of a dielectric substance for increasing reflectivity. CONSTITUTION:The light shielding film of the liquid crystal panel 16 composed of a liquid crystal 16 sealed between a pair of glass substrates 1 and 2 facing each other, a switching element for driving the liquid crystal 16 and the light shielding film is composed of of the metallic film and the thin film 21 of the dielectric substance for increasing the reflectivity. Chromium 12 is used as the metallic film. The thickness of the plural films existing between the glass substrates 1 and 2 is so set that the reflection of the visible light on the film surfaces is lessened by interference. The light shielding film is formed to have the thickness in such a manner that the reflection of the visible light on the surface of the film is lessened by interference and, therefore, the bright screen free from loss of light is obtd. Since the reflected and scattered light is eliminated, there are no leakage, etc., of thin-film transistors by stray light as well and, therefore, a liquid crystal projector using strong irradiating light is obtd. |
