PURPOSE:To eliminate the need to prepare pallet data, frame by frame, when the full-color moving picture image is reduced in color number and displayed. CONSTITUTION:The full-color image which is transferred continuously from a host device and compressed, frame by frame, on a DCT basis is expanded into the original full-color image by expansion logic 1 and temporarily stored in one of frame memories 4-1-4-3 in a buffer memory 4. Further, the DC component of a DCT block is inputted from the expansion logic 1 to a scene change detector 2 and a change point of a scene is detected from successive frames according to the change of the DC component; and pallet data for color number reducing display are generated from the full-color image of the frame at the time of the detection and set in an LUT 6, so that the full-color image in the scene change generation frame and respective following frames of the same scene stored in the buffer memory 4 is converted into a color image reduced in color number during the generation. |
