Embedded road device

An embedded road device (10) has a lowerable top wall (14) which is held flush with the surface of the road by means of a spring (26) when not under load. When a vehicle wheel R runs onto the top wall (14), the latter can pivot to a greater or lesser extent depending on which of a few blocking members (28, 29) have been released. By actuation of two contact strips (32), in an electronic evaluation device (34) the travelling speed is computed and compared with a limit value. If the limit value is only slightly exceeded, the blocking members (28) are electromagnetically released, so that the top wall (14) can pivot to a limited extent. At greater speed excesses, the pivotability of the top wall (14) is increased.
