Method and device for neuromagnetic stimulation

In a method and a device for neuromagnetic stimulation of nerve strands, a magnetic field with a magnetic inductance B and at least one focussed ultrasound beam are applied simultaneously. The magnetic field is arranged orthogonally to the direction of ultrasonic oscillation. A focus having a diameter of about 1 cm is produced. The relatively strong fields required for effective and selective stimulation can thus be directed on to a single nerve bundle or a single central nerve region. Unintentional stimulation of adjacent nerve regions is prevented.
