CONSOLIDATION TYPE PLANE OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE

PURPOSE:To provide a consolidation type optical waveguide having structure capable of substituting polymer compositions for a part of clads formed on a waveguide. CONSTITUTION:The plane optical waveguide is characterized by slot structure parts 5, 6 formed by exposing at least a part of a core 4 by removing at least a part of clad layers 2, 3 covering the core 4. Preferably the slot structure parts 5, 6 are filled with polymer composition. Consequently clad consisting of polymer composition of high quality can easily be prepared only by filling the slot structure parts 5, 6 with polymer composition melt or a polymer composition solution.
