PURPOSE: To enhance reliability by selecting many regions of interest (ROI) in a grit shape and removing the ROI having a sharp edge after the periphery region of lung is specified when automatically selecting many regions of interest (ROI) for covering a large periphery region of the lung. CONSTITUTION: Digitizing an image signal into a predetermined picture-matrix in a digital image input device 101 when an image of the region of the chest is inputted, the digitized image is outputted into a detector of the region of the chest and detector of the diaphragm 104 after saving it into an image memory 102 temporarily, the boundary of the regions of the lung is determined from their detected results by a selector of the periphery region of the lung. Next, making select many ROI of a predetermined matrix size in the grit shape filling the boundary of specified region, at the same time, an unevenness in the background from individual ROI is removed. Next, after removing the ROI having the sharp edge by histogram analyzing for an overlapped edge gradient, a texture analysis is performed for the remaining ROI by using a preliminary selected sample, and then the results in a display part 114 are displayed. |
