The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a pressing die for the manufacture of, especially, optical discs. It also relates to the pressing die obtained by this method as well as to the product, especially the optical disc, obtained by virtue of the use of such a pressing die. This manufacturing method consists in depositing, onto a nickel support (1), a layer (2) of a metallic material, then in depositing, onto this layer (2), a layer (3) of photosensitive resin, in recording the information to be duplicated in this layer (3) by passing a light beam (4) over it. The areas (6) of non-irradiated resin are next removed and the information is transferred into the layer (2) of metallic material by a plasma etching or chemical etching process. Next, the residual resin is removed by an oxygen plasma or by chemically dissolving. This method can be applied to the manufacture of all types of pressing dies and, in particular, to the manufacture of a pressing die for the production of optically-read discs. <IMAGE>
