A brush guide for a commutator brush of an electric commutator with an insulator disk (11) brush carrier. A guide shaft (10) can be attached in an insulated manner to the brush carrier (11). The shaft (10) is open at least at one end and axially displaceably holds the brush.To improve dispersion of the heat generated in the brush, cooling ribs (15, 17) are formed on the guide shaft (10). These ribs (15, 17) are preferably formed integer rally with the shaft (10) by folding the sheet material of the shaft (10).
