Organopolysiloxane-polyethers of formula (I) are new. R1 = 3-6C opt. branched alkylene; R2 = a gp. of formula -(CmH2mO)sR3 (where m = 2.0-2.5; s = 4-21; R3 = H, 1-4C alkyl or acetyl); n = 1-3, if R1 contains only 3 or 4C atoms, the alkyleneoxy units are in blocks corresp. to the formula -(C3H6O)p-(C2H2O)q-(C3H6O)rR3, with p = 1-3; q = 4-15;and r = 0-3, at least 50 mole % of the alkyleneoxy gps. are ethyleneoxy (EO). More specifically, R1 = -(Ch2)a- (with a = 3-6); R3 = H; n = 1; p = 1-1.5; q = 5-10; r = 1-1.5. The gp. -R1-O-R2 has mol. wt. 400-700. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are used as hydrolytically stable wetting agents in aq. systems, in amts. of 0.01-1 wt.% in the prepn. (claimed). (I) are polysiloxane-polyethers with excellent wetting properties and improved stability to hydrolysis, esp. useful e.g. in water-based paints which can be stored for up to 2 years before use, and in aq. preparations herbicides, pesticides etc.
