PURPOSE:To permit the high-draft cross rollig while preventing buckling by executing the cross rolling of a slab while the feed is made smaller than the rolling-down width of dies in at least one of the front and rear end parts thereof. CONSTITUTION:Ths slab 2 is cross rolled at least at the feed rate L2 smaller than the rolling-down width L1 of the dies 1 at least in one of the front and rear end parts thereof and is cross rolled at the feed rate equal to the rolling width L1 of the dies in the stationary part. The feed rate L2 is adequately selected by the material, thickness, etc., of the slab 2. The slab 2 is hardly buckled if the cross rolling is executed in the above-mentioned manner as the slab 2 is acted with tension in the forward and backward direction in the stationary part of the slab 2. |
