This invention consists of two elements, i.e. 1) the production of a composite fiber sheet material, and 2) the processing of this material. 1) Production of a composite fiber sheet material: (1) a base cloth-forming rear side portion contains shrinkable fiber or fiber capable of being fulled. (2) An outer side-forming portion contains natural vegetable fiber. (3) The compounding of these outer and rear side portions is done during the braiding of an object sheet material, or by punching so as to interlace the fibers, or by laminating. 2) Processing of the composite fiber sheet material: (1) the composite fiber material is processed with a polymer solution or adhesive paste or a sizing agent so as to prevent the occurrence of processing strain in the outer side portion thereof and improve the processed shape retaining effect. (2) First, the composite fiber sheet material is subjected to a physical deformation process. (3) Simultaneously with or after the physical deformation process, the wetting or heating of the sheet material is done to shrink the same material. (4) In a step preceding the physical deformation process, or a step to be carried out simultaneously with this process, or a step subsequent to the same process, the sheet material is subjected to the application of a function adding agent or a finishing agent. Thus, the outer side portion of a natural vegetable fiber-containing fiber sheet material is unevenly shrinked or wrinkled, and rendered expansible and flexible by producing a composite fiber sheet material as described in 1) and processing the sheet material as described in 2). |
