Anti-theft system for preventing starting of motor vehicle engine - uses key-card with internal connections that fit into row of contacts on dashboard that have supply and ground connections

The anti-theft system blocks the starting of the vehicle engine if a coded card (5) that has unique internal connections is not inserted in a fixed connector (1) by the driver. The pins of the connector are variably connected to a source of supply or to ground. Certain of the connections are to relay coils to allow further complication of the combinations. The connector delivers current through the internal paths of the card to activate a relay (10) that closes contacts to allow operation of the starter. USE/ADVANTAGE - Reduces accessibility of cables for ignition switches and complicates copying of 'key', reducing vulnerability of vehicle to theft.
