发明名称 METAL HYDRIDE STORAGE BATTERY
摘要 PURPOSE:To smoothly consume oxygen gas so as to enhance characteristics of a battery by fixing a mixture of a conductive material with a water repellent material to the surface of a hydrogen storage electrode by the use of a glue agent composed of a material excellent in oxygen permeability. CONSTITUTION:A surface treating solution is prepared by mixing acetylene black as a conductive material, polyvinyl pyrolidone as a bonding agent, and water as a dispersing solvent, to be applied to both surfaces of a base electrode, followed by drying and rolling, thus forming a hydrogen storage electrode. A negative electrode 2, i.e., the hydrogen storage electrode and a positive electrode 1 made of sintered type nickel are wound via a separator 3, thereby obtaining an electrode group 4. The electrode groups 4 are inserted into a sheath jar 6, which is sealed with a KOH solution, thus manufacturing a nickel- hydrogen alkaline storage battery. The use of polyvinyl pyrolidone excellent in oxygen permeability as a glue agent for the surface of the hydrogen storage electrode can allow oxygen gas to permeate the glue agent so as to easily move at the surface of the hydrogen storage electrode. Consequently, it is possible to smoothly consume the oxygen gas and to enhance characteristics of the battery.
