<p>PURPOSE:To detect the length of an electrode with a high accuracy during the operation of an arc furnace. CONSTITUTION:The length L3 of an electrode below a clamp 4 is measured immediately after elongating the electrode 3 initially to obtain a reference length. During the operation, a clamp height signal or a PLG value is detected at the time point of the heat increasing step 1 of respective chargings. The consumed length of the electrode is obtained by a difference between the PLG values of respective chargings and the PLG value of the first charging while the length L3 of the electrode below the clamp 4 during the operation is obtained by subtracting the consumed length of electrode from the reference length.</p> |
