PRODUCTION OF TYLONOLIDE DERIVATIVE

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for 16-membered macrolide antibiotic substance from a culture product by culturing a microbial strain belonging to the genus Streptomyces. CONSTITUTION:A microbial strain belonging to the genus Streptomyces is cultured in a nutrient medium (preferably a liquid medium containing natural nutrient source) preferably by shaking culture or aeration and agitation culture, and the objective tylonolide derivative of formula (R is CHO or CH2OH) is separated from the culture product by conventional method. The microbial strain is, e.g. Streptomyces fradiae PL-15N255 strain (FERM P-13070) obtained by the mutation of Streptomyces fradiae NRLL B-2702 strain capable of producing tylosine. The culture is preferably carried out at 27-29C and pH5.5-8.5 for 4-10 days.
