PURPOSE:To preferably supply and scrape a developer on a developer carrier member by supporting an elastic roller made of a specified separated foam cellular elastic material on an axis, and specifying the deformation amt. of the roller in the radial direction at an area in the contact with the developer carrier member. CONSTITUTION:The toner 6 remaining on a developing sleeve 3 is scraped off and fresh toner 6 is supplied by an elastic roller 5. This elastic roller 5 consists of a core metal 51 as the axis and a rubber roller 52 made of a separated foam cellular body such as silicone rubber, CR rubber, etc., in which wall of foam is not communicated with the adjacent foam is formed outside the core metal 51 in a roller shape. This rubber roller 52 has 8-15 ASKER C-type hardness and shows 0.5-1.5mm deformation of a radius at the area in contact with the developing sleeve 3. By forming the roller 5 from separated foam cellular body, proper ruggeness of the roller enables applying and scraping of the toner 6 on the developing sleeve. |
