PURPOSE: To provide a technique for separating, identifying, and measuring ions in a solution by performing electrophoresis in a capillary zone so as to improve the sensitivity and resolution of anion and cation species. CONSTITUTION: In a method for separating ion species, a sample containing ion species is introduced to a capillary tube which is filled up with a carrier electrolytic solution containing selected light absorbing anions or cations and has a thin core and each ion is made to dissolve out in accordance with their ionic mobility by supplying an electric current to 1 capillary column. Both UV absorptive and UV transmissive ions can be detected and, at the same time, determined by measuring and monitoring UV rays and visible light. |
