Devices for forming channels in acoustic imaging systems such as sonars or medical ultrasonographs are disclosed. Such a system uses a SIGMA / DELTA type modulator (102) as analog-to-digital converter followed by a 1 bit delay line (103) for each antenna sensor. A device of very small size can thus be obtained and housed directly in the antenna, such as a medical probe.
