When conditions characterising a hot start are fulfilled, with the IC engine put in to operation, measures are introduced for compensating the disturbance of the mixture due to a hot start. These measures include at least an alteration of the characteristic parameter of the lambda control probe. A start of the IC engine is deemed a hot start, if in connection with the start certain conditions could be established. Firstly that at least the temp. of the IC engine (Tmot) or the temp. of the suction air (Ta) exceeds a predetermined threshold limit. ADVANTAGE - Improved running behaviour of engine with hot start after short interruption of engine operation. Stabilises idling.
