Liquid compsn. for forming a self annealing, insulation glass coating on refractory alloys or Ti alloys consists of in wt. % 40-76 non-Pb glass melt, 35-45 basic oxide; 2-13 amphoteric oxide chosen from Al203 and/or hydrated Al203 and/or aluminium silicate; 1-7 mineral; 0-15 liquid and 3-15 binder. The non-Pb melt is a glass frit chosen from non-Pb borocalcium, non-Pb boroalkaline, non-Pd borocalcium-alkaline, lime borate, boracite, alkaline, and/or barium carbonate and/or dehydrated borax and/or antimony oxide. The basic oxide is chosen from an alkaline oxide and/or a mineral and/or a glass frit. USE/ADVANTAGE - Coating pieces which are to be forged or pressed. Coating makes good lubricant/insulation layer, adheres well to substrate, dries rapidly and nitrifies at room temp. to allow application of several layers, and has exceptional mechanical resistance and shock resistance.
