<p>PURPOSE:To reduce secular deterioration of a battery and maintain the activated state at all times by furnishing a charging means including a current control means to charge a battery with electric power given by a power supply, and also furnishing a control means, change-over means, etc. CONSTITUTION:Normally, trickle charge is made to a battery 1 from a power supply 2 through a charging means 7. When trickle charge is stopped by any cause such as power failure and, for example, the down-time has lasted over 24hr at the time recovery is made, a control means 9 actuates a changeover means 14 to allow the battery 1 to make a several min discharging to a load for discharging 3. With this discharge, the influence of the battery being open is removed to bring about activation. In case the down-time is below 24hr, the trickle charge is continued as it is, and recharging after discharge is performed in a short time with a greater rate than the trickle current in conformity to a charge control signal sent from the control means 9. Reconditioning is conducted automatically to attain activation of the battery and maintaining its lifetime.</p> |
