The tunnelling or face cutting plant has a rotating head (11) which forms a drainage channel (12) in the substrate (5) parallel to the work face (7). In a direction orthogonal to drainage channels, connecting channels (14) are formed. A movable frame (15) is located on the displacement side of the plant and connected to a displacement frame (16). A layer of packing material (20) is placed behind the tunnelling or face cutting plant, with a watertight layer of clay (21) on top.
