The method for establishing the launch positions of a guided missile or rocket battery, comprises seeking out in a stepwise fashion all potential launch vectors until all these vectors have been calculated using an in-built vertical line scanner-type sensor which reads image information along a vertical axis and whose path is analysed to identify the distance between the free launch space and terrain obstacles for each image, and then inputting the launch restrictions into the battery launch computer. - The device comprises a line scan camera (9,10) mounted on to the battery in such a manner that it follows the sideways direction of the battery. |
