Railway vehicle location and data transmission system - combines track and inductive loop circuits for short haul routes

A device is used for location of rail vehicles. It can perform data transfer between them and trackside installations. It is designed to combine the advantages of coded track circuit current systems with those of continuous loop inductive systems to form a simple efficient automatic railway control system suitable for short haul routes. The system contains a track circuit (G) and a continuous loop circuit (L) with at least one crossing point. The track and loop circuits are connected in series. The loop transmitter (S) is placed so as to transfer data to units on board the vehicles inductively coupled via at least one aerial with the track and loop circuits.
