A lance with a packer is advanced under ground. The packer is opened and closed, so that powder flows into a hollow formed by it, and the powder and the surrounding soil are compressed. The soil is displaced by a conical smooth or stepped tip. Connected to the tip is a tube of smaller diameter, and fastened to this is an elastic, hydraulically expanded packer. A tube for the powder feed has a valve and a conical inclined discharge, and opens into a ring gap above the packer. USE/ADVANTAGE - Lance permits long powder bodies to be formed in granular soils, and compression of both to make eg. foundations.
