Fluid impervious material is heated and fed onto the surface of a rotating drum having dies to which vacuum is applied to draw the material into the die cavities to form pockets. Fluid absorbing pads are deposited at spaced intervals onto a strip of fluid permeable material which is fed into contact with the drum surface so that the pads are in the pockets formed in the impermeable material and permeable and permeable-material are sealed together around the periphery of the pockets. Obtd. strip is severed between adajcent pads to form individual sanitary pads.
