PURPOSE:To purify nitrogen oxide by a method reducing the formation of dinitrogen oxide and capable of exhibiting excellent nitrogen oxide removal capacity even in the coexistence of water and sulfur oxide. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas containing nitrogen oxide is brought into contact with a platinum-containing catalyst supported on a carrier such as alumina in an oxidizing atmosphere using gasoline, kerosene, gas oil or a hydrocarbon mixture of two or more kinds of them as a reducing agent to remove nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gas. |
