PURPOSE:To provide a solid-liquid separator capable of efficiently removing SS in sewage, adaptable to large-scale sewage treatment and capable of putting the equipments of an existing sewage treatment plant to practical use. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of filter medium-packed tanks 5 are pref. provided on the outflow side of a horizontal counterflow tank 1 allowing sewage to flow in a horizontal direction so as to be separated by a partition wall 4 and packed with a filter medium composed of plastic with a specific gravity of 1 or less. Sewage containing SS easy to settle is allowed to flow as a descending or ascending current within the horizontal counterflow tank 1 to collect fine SS. Air introducing pipes 7 are arranged to the lower parts of the filter medium packed tanks 5 to wash the filter medium. |
