PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fluid passing low electric current, having high durability, capable of preventing the lowering of electro-viscous effect and useful for the electrical control of a variable damping damper, clutch, etc., by adding an antioxidant and a metal corrosion preventing agent to a liquid crystal substance. CONSTITUTION:The objective fluid is produced by using (A) a liquid crystal substance as a main component and adding (B) an antioxidant (e.g. 2,6-di-t-butyl- p-cresol and dioctyldiphenylamine) and/or (C) a metal corrosion preventing agent (e.g. benzotriazole and propionic acid) to the main component. The component A is e.g. a cyanobiphenyl-type liquid crystal compound of formula I (X is C6H5, F, Cl, etc.), a cholesteric liquid crystal compound of formula III, etc. The amounts of the components B and C are 0.1-2wt.% and 0.01-1wt.% based on the total fluid, respectively. |
