摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce inner resistance and raise output density by constituting the electrode of a carbon material formed body containing at least a carbon material and binder and a current collector and forming a flame-sprayed aluminum layer or flame-sprayed titanium layer covering a surface of a formed body between a formed body and a current collector. SOLUTION: When an Al layer or a Ti layer is formed in a surface of a formed body of a carbon electrode for an electric double layer capacitor, electrical connection to a current collector is improved and a resistance between both of them lowers. Furthermore, when Al or Ti is melted and is sprayed to a surface of a formed body by jetting by gas, a resistance between both of them can be further lowered. Furthermore, coating of a carbon electrode with a flame-sprayed Al layer or a flame-sprayed Ti layer is very effective to lower a resistance between a carbon electrode and a current collector. A metallic film is made 20 to 300 &mu;m thick. Activated carbon of surface area of 500 m<2> /g or more or glassy carbon of specific surface area of 20 m<2> /g or more is used for a carbon material for raising energy density per electrode volume.
