The jig saw has a motor driven ram (12) with a saw blade (10) protruding through a guide shoe (22). Clipping into the guide shoe is a replaceable plastics insert (24) which provides lateral support and guidance to the saw blade. The plastic insert is circular with a stepped diameter which seats into a corresponding diameter of the hole (28) at the bottom of the visual tracking vee (52) of the guide shoe. It has two retaining tabs (30, 32) and is inserted from underneath in a position (B) at right angles to the working position (A). ADVANTAGE - Simple, cheap and easy to replace.
