The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for analyzing a user pattern, which can analyze personal characteristics of a user regarding utilization of content and which can recommend a service suitable for preference of the user without revealing information, for example, by storing personal information of the user in an external server, or the like. According to an aspect of the present invention, provided is a home gateway device which is provided in a space of a first user and which is configured to analyze a pattern of the first user. The home gateway device is configured to be connected not only to a set-top box but also to a personal computer of the first user and also to be connected to at least one of a door lock, a lighting device, and a gas device, which are installed in the space of the first user. The home gateway device is directly connected to at least one of second to N^th home gateway devices which are installed in spaces of respective second to N^th users over a wired/wireless communication network, and is configured to perform data communication. The home gateway device is configured to analyze a pattern of the first user regarding utilization of multimedia content via at least one of the set-top box and the personal computer which are connected to the device, and is configured to request information of multimedia content, corresponding to a pattern obtained by a result of the analysis, from a home gateway device, directly connected to the device, among the second to N^th home gateway devices. |
