Process and device for scrubbing dust-laden gases originating from a blast furnace for iron or steel manufacture, of the type including a prescrubber (5) upstream of which the said gases are mixed with water, means for collecting this water which is mixed with solid residues formed by the said dust and acidified, means (9) for separating the acidified water from the said solid residues, means for reducing the acidity of the water, and means (10) for returning it upstream of the prescrubber, characterised in that the means for reducing the acidity of the water include means (20, 21) for mixing it with an alkaline water originating from a plant (14) for removing dust from steel plant gas. <IMAGE>
