PURPOSE:To enable aiming printing with the arbitrary area of a paper sheet as an object without specifying the form of the paper sheet by providing means to designate an arbitrary printing position on the paper sheet to be printed, and to store printing position information for the unit of the paper sheet. CONSTITUTION:The printing position information showing the move of a printing head with the cursor key operation of a keyboard, paper sheet feeding and the printing area designated by function key operations is recorded in a printing area information storage part 11 while being related to a document format and the head pointer of character information. A document buffer 12 to store character data stores the character data in the respective set printing areas corresponding to respective printing areas. In the case of aiming printing, under the control of a printing control part 16, the document in the area is developed to a printing buffer 13 according to the format for each printing area according to the information in the printing area information storage part 11.
