PURPOSE:To provide a picture reduction device which prevents omission, batter, etc., to faithfully preserve white and black fine lines. CONSTITUTION:A correction value buffer 17 where the correction value related to a prescribed number of reference picture elements is held, an adder 12 which is connected to the correction value buffer 17 and adds the held correction value and the number of black picture elements out of reference picture elements, a comparator 13 which is connected to the adder 12 and compares the addition result and a threshold with each other to discriminate reference picture elements and determines the color of a converted picture element, a pattern table 15 where a specific pattern related to reference picture elements is stored, and a distribution processing part 14 which is connected to the pattern table 15 and distributes the error between the addition result and the threshold to unconverted picture element positions adjacent to the noticed converted picture element in the correction value buffer 17 as the correction value at the time of coincidence between the pattern of reference picture elements and the stored specific pattern are provided. |
